Ephesians 3:20 tells us that God is able to do immeasurably more than all we can ask or imagine.

Imagine with me what it would be like: walking into a space that feels warm and inviting. Imagine children’s areas that communicate safety and joy. Imagine worship spaces that reflect excellence and intentionality. Imagine gathering areas designed for conversation, connection, and community. Imagine facilities that support outreach, service, and growth. Imagine YOUR One experiencing the love of God through the intentional work and culture of a church that puts their faith into practice.

These changes are not about comfort—they are about clarity. They remove distractions so the focus can be on worship, discipleship, and mission.

Forward. Together.

A NOTE FROM PASTOR RJ

TNC FAMILY,

Our desire to see lives, families, and our community transformed by the love of Jesus is leading us to something greater than we could ever imagine! We are so grateful to see everything God has already done, everything He is continuing to do, and everything He will do through our church! And right now, we are standing at the threshold of an exciting new season. One that is going to lead our church, Transformation Nazarene, FORWARD! The TNC Church Board and I have been working hard together over the last several months, and, through faithful prayer together, are pleased to announce the FORWARD Initiative.

This initiative is not simply about programs or projects–it is about purpose and mission. It is about faithfully stepping into the calling God has placed on our congregation. We believe that God is leading us to expand our impact, deepen our discipleship, strengthen our ministries, and prepare our church for many generations to come.

Throughout the next few weeks, you will hear more details about the vision, specific goals, and all of the ways you can participate in the FORWARD initiative. There will be times set aside for prayer together, fellowship gatherings, and informational meetings that are designed to make sure that every voice is heard, every question is answered, and every heart is pointed in the same direction.

Pastor RJ Montis

What is the Forward Initiative?

The Forward Initiative is about moving faithfully in the direction of God’s calling, purposefully reaching and serving others right where He has placed us. This will happen by investing relationally in our One and raising funds above and beyond our current budget.

Identifying Our One

Our One is simply a person in each of our everyday lives who is far from Christ. This person is part of our lives and someone who we would rearrange our calendars for. Our One is not a spiritual project, but rather a friend in whom we invest our time and energy. Followers of Jesus are called to make disciples. Having a One is an intentional way to do just that by building relationships where we can share the love of Jesus. Each of us needs to identify and engage our One: pray for and do life with them!

Creating a Space for Our Ones

Now imagine a space intentionally designed for YOUR One. Research shows us that when visiting a new place, a majority of people choose within the first 7 to 10 minutes if they will ever return. That means our Ones are making a decision about Transformation Nazarene Church from the second they drive onto campus.

Over the years, the doors of this building have welcomed many, and these walls have seen God move. However, by the Spirit’s leading, our Ones will come to a church service, and changes are necessary to prepare for their arrival. Improving our facilities with our Ones in mind is not about changing who we are or what we believe. It’s simply about extending our welcome in a way that reflects our values.

Our Ones will give Transformation Nazarene an opportunity because of our relationships with them, but they will make their decision to stay based on their experience while here. It begins with the look and feel of our lobbies. Intentional updates like clear signage, accessible entrances, and inviting gathering spaces can make it easier for newcomers to feel at home from the moment they arrive. It continues with our children’s spaces where we create a welcoming, secure place to drop off their children, the present and future of our church. Finally, a refreshed worship center can minimize distractions so that they can have the opportunity to ultimately encounter God’s presence. These improvements show our hearts for those we are trying to reach by removing barriers that we may have overlooked in the past so that they may experience God’s love and grace in a new way.

By investing in these areas, we honor God’s mission to opening our doors wider, ensuring that every One who walks in feels seen, valued, and encouraged to return.

Investing in the Our Community

Because we have a heart for generosity, we will give back the first portion of what we receive. As a Nazarene church, we firmly believe that each of us has been called to operate with a mindset focused on missions, living out the Great Commission. Through this initiative, our focus will be geared towards the people in our city, our Jerusalem. We will be partnering with organizations within our community to advance the kingdom of God.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • At Transformation Nazarene Church, we sense God leading us into a new season of ministry where we can help more people encounter Jesus and grow as Christlike disciples. The Forward Initiative aligns our church with that calling by strengthening ministries that help people experience God’s grace, transformation, and hope.

While some facility updates will support this mission, the heart of the initiative is spiritual, not structural. We want to pursue the lost, nurture disciples, and continue joining Jesus in His redemptive work in our community.

  • Any updates to our facilities are tools that help us fulfill our mission as a Nazarene church to make Christlike disciples in the nations. Our building should reflect the hospitality, excellence, and intentionality of our ministries so people can take meaningful steps toward Christ.

These updates will help create open, welcoming environments that strengthen first impressions and provide space for conversation, connection, and discipleship.

  • TNC Kids plays a vital role in helping children encounter Jesus and begin their journey of becoming Christlike disciples. Updates will focus on creating a safe, engaging, and spiritually nurturing environment for families.

We anticipate improvements that enhance security, safety, accessibility, and learning. This may include updated security measures, child-friendly restrooms, intentionally designed classrooms, and supportive technology. Every change helps children experience God’s love in a space that reflects care, excellence, and Christlike hospitality.

  • Project Timing: We are working with building professionals to strategically plan projects in ways that minimize the impact on the congregation, manage funding and costs wisely, and allow the work to be completed in a timely manner.

Worship Location: During sanctuary updates, we will gather for worship in the gym so weekly services can continue without interruption.

Funding: These projects will be funded through sacrificial giving from our TNC family over a two year period. If needed, additional financing may be used to cover any gap between giving and actual costs.

  • We partnered with an architect and general contractor who understand our ministry goals and facility needs. They evaluated our campus, explored potential project options, and developed an estimate based on current construction and material costs. Because final project details depend on the resources God provides through The Forward Initiative, this estimate serves as a responsible and realistic starting point for planning and stewardship.

  • The Forward Initiative is not simply about improving our building. It is about creating space for ministry to grow and for more people to encounter Jesus. By enhancing the areas where we gather, serve, and build relationships, we make room for new believers, maturing disciples, and families seeking spiritual guidance.

These updates support more intentional discipleship, stronger hospitality, and greater opportunities to serve in ways that reflect the love and holiness of Christ. Every improvement helps TNC welcome people well, walk with them as they discover new life in Christ, and support the ministries that form Christlike disciples in our community.
